AquaVista Aquatics Sutherland Scapable SandFall

The Sutherland Scapable Sandfall is an underwater waterfall for an aquarium that uses sand to give the illusion of a natural looking waterfall in your aquascape. The kit includes all the plumbing for the Sandfall and is designed to allow you to use natural rock, wood, and plants to give your aquarium a natural looking Sandfall. Simply assemble the SandFall kit as you incorporate it into you aquascape, then attach your pump and add sand. You now have a beautiful addition to your underwater nature aquarium.

You should use a pump of approximately 150 gph capacity. The connection from the reservoir to the Nozzle is made with 1/2 inch ID tubing (inlcuded with kit) that allows freedom in placing the nozzle in your aquascape. You also have the option of using the right angle adapters for tighter spaces. 36 inches of tubing is provided, allowing for a SandFall height of up to about 20 inches.

First and foremost, IT WORKs. We have built and tested hundreds of sandfall designs. Based on this experience, The Sutherland Scapable SandFall Kit has been designed to not only work, but to keep working for months and months thereafter.

There are lots of videos and internet instructions on how to make DIY sandfall kits. What they don’t show you is how many times you will need to test and adjust your plumbing and your hardscape to get it to work. You will likely have to fill and drain your aquarium numerous times and spend many hours getting a system that looks acceptable and works. When you do get it to work, they frequently have a relatively poor rate of sand flow that is less than completely impressive. Once you finally have it working and then fill your tank for the final time and add fish, the DIY sandfalls will frequently either stop working or work even more poorly over time. And then what, rip your completed tank apart to start over?
